Overview

The role will join a team that are responsible for all Balance Sheet Management and Treasury Risk thematic reviews alongside and supporting the delivery of the Prudential Risk Oversight Plan.  The reviews cover Market Risk, Treasury Risk, Funding & Liquidity Risk and Business Risk (inc. Capital Risk) and Financial Sustainability Risk.

 

As the Liquidity & ILAAP specialist, the role holder will apply technical knowledge and market awareness to ensure thematic reviews consider internal governance, market best practice and regulatory compliance. 

 

The role holder will also act as an enabler for the business to better understand and manage their risk profile, providing advice and challenge to 1 st line risk teams through impactful and highly influential engagement up to Chief Officer levels.

 

The business offers a very flexible hybrid working week with 1 office day per fortnight in their Yorkshire based head quarters.  Alongside the base salary, benefits will include 10% annual bonus, 11% pension contribution, 25 days holiday and private medical insurance.   

 

Specific responsibilities include:Act as a Liquidity Risk subject matter expert and take the lead to deliver the thematic Balance Sheet Management and Treasury reviews. Apply expertise to conduct reviews which deliver insightful, accurate and meaningful findings to support the 2LoD BSM Risk Oversight Business Partner in understanding key risks within Balance Sheet Management and Treasury.

Responsible for leading the engagement with key business stakeholders and divisions on thematic reviews. Be highly effective at providing clear advice, challenge and expertise on a range of complex issues right up to Chief Officer level, be influential to effectively manage stakeholder.

Contribute to and support the business to act upon the findings from second line thematic reviews to ensure compliance to relevant regulations, Group policy and industry best practice.

Play a leading role in developing robust oversight practices, identifying new approaches that should be embedded and taking personal ownership for implementing necessary changes

Take the lead in delivering timely analysis on the Groups BSM and Treasury Risk positions to enable robust day to day challenge of 1 st line business teams to protect the Group from unexpected financial shocks.

Deputise for the BSM Risk Oversight Business Partner when required.

 

Candidate Requirements

Background within a risk management function in the Banking / Building Society Sector.

Specific experience in technical risk functions covering Liquidity Risk.

Excellent communication skills, in particular translating technical concepts and facts into clear understandable written reports for commercial and operational colleagues.

Good awareness and understanding of the relevant regulatory environment relating to Balance Sheet Management risk and experience of applying in practice.
