Since graduating in 2005, Mike has spent his entire career in recruitment, focusing solely on the Compliance and Risk markets across a wide range of FCA and PRA regulated sectors. Initially specialising in permanent recruitment, the past few years have seen a steady increase in Mike’s work across the interim contract market, with the majority of his clients being located across the midlands and north of England. Mike is proud to have developed and continued to maintain client and candidate relationships that reach back to his early days in the job, while ensuring that his knowledge and expertise are in line with the ever changing regulatory world.

Outside of work, Mike is a big fan of all things sport. He plays golf to a reasonable standard, manages his youngest son’s under-sevens football team and still somehow plays 11-a-side football every Saturday, although he suspects his playing days may be coming to an end. He is a season ticket holder at Manchester’s most historic football club. He also has a very understanding wife, although she probably secretly enjoys the peace when Mike is out of the house with their two boys.

Why MERJE?

My decision to join MERJE in 2017 was based on the huge success of its Compliance and Risk team and the saying, “if you can’t beat them, join them”. What I have realised since joining is that MERJE is a business built on true family values, doing the right thing and working with integrity and honesty. These qualities run through the entire business. The relaxed dress code, 10-minute commute, free parking, gym across the road, flexible working, Costa standard coffee machine, fine dining incentives and free holidays abroad are also worth noting.
