​My client is looking for an Underwriting Trainer to manage the operations team and manage the mortgage applications from initial decision stage through to completion and release of funds. Working with company lending policies to determine the level of risk for each applicant within parameters of business policies and processes.

Responsibilities:

•Support new to role Underwriters looking for their first mandate and ensure that once mandated the underwriter’s decision making and overall approach is embedded so enhanced support can be removed.

•You will also support existing mandated Underwriters looking to develop their skills or to move to the next mandate level, as well as identifying any training needs or trends.

Day to Day will include:

•Working closely with assigned Underwriters to drive their development through side by side reviews and case oversight.

•Drive and develop detailed training plans for assigned individuals including mandate proposals

•Working in partnership with assigned individuals to provide constructive positive feedback to aid their progression

•Conduct training sessions as appropriate in line with any trends identified during side by side case oversight reviews

•Work with the Underwriting Management team to support with them form individual development plans, as well as driving the agenda for coaching and training priorities in the department.

•Work with Underwriting QC Analysts to ensure that oversight trends drive the agenda for coaching and training priorities in the department.

•Work with the Operations Management team to ensure that the QC and training approach is regularly reviewed and enhanced to feed into the department’s Risk Control Self Assessment as a key control.

•Manage key stakeholder relationship with the Retail Credit Risk team ensuring key goals are shared ensuring that the training and coaching regime complements the oversight function.

•To understand and apply all bank policies applicable to regulatory requirements, lending responsibly, credit risk criteria and fraud prevention.

•Continue to provide exceptional service to customers and intermediaries.

•Interpret regulatory rules to support risk controls

•Support the programme of development and change across business systems and processes.

•Maintain up to date knowledge of regulatory requirements.

•Support the development of business policies

•Continue to develop knowledge and experience in line with maintaining current mandate authority and coaching role

•Support both internal and external audit requirements and site visits

•Any additional tasks/support as deemed appropriate by the management team

•Work to drive balance and continued relationships with brokers, intermediaries and key panel partners
