MERJE are partnered with a leading Building Society in their search for a Senior Manager to lead their Balance Sheet Modelling team.

If you are looking for a new challenge, have a great understanding of balance sheet modelling and want the opportunity to lead and inspire a business-critical team, this could be the opportunity for you.

About the role

You'll take functional ownership of the Society's core balance sheet risk and decision support models and EUCs, ensuring internal risk and model compliance, as well as embedding a culture of improvement and control that supports the Society's strategic objectives.

You will be responsible for a suite of models and reports which cover financial planning, product pricing, asset and liability management, stress testing, as well as prudential risk regulatory returns. You will be a role model for model risk and EUC management, ensuring developments are conducted within the Society's frameworks.

You'll take the lead in developing the Society's model landscape, working with your peers and stakeholders to ensure a joined-up approach to model design, development, delivery and use. You will be responsible for the strategic positioning of your team's model landscape and how it will evolve over time, and you will be expected to influence how the Society's modelling landscape can best support its strategic objectives.

You will take responsibility for the EUC frameworks employed in the regulatory reporting of prudential risk, ensuring they continue to be well managed and controlled and fit-for-purpose as the Society grows.

Most importantly, you'll be a great leader who empowers and supports your team and key stakeholders to make the right decisions for the Society. You'll be expected to influence at all levels, across your team, peers, stakeholders (up to board level), 2nd and 3rd line as well as the regulator and other external parties.

Our Ideal Candidate:

You'll have an expert level understanding of Balance Sheet Management concepts, such as Market and Liquidity Risk, Structural Hedging, Funds Transfer Pricing and Maturity Transformation, and can support these with experience of financial modelling in a regulatory environment.

Underpinning this will be a good understanding of the financial services industry and mutual sector, financial markets, and our competitors as well as the associated regulatory environment.

Away from the technical knowledge you'll be an accomplished and empowering leader, with experience of leading, developing and motivating teams to deliver high performance within a supportive environment. You'll be a great communicator and be able to work with, and influence, a wide range of stakeholders.
