​​Legal Affairs Manager required for London based Fintech that has pioneered the youth fintech and financial education category.

This role will have the freedom to lead the legal team, be the focal point for all legal matters, and will play a key role working alongside and advising senior management in the business as we continue our expansion from the UK into the US and beyond. The role will report directly to our Head of Business Risk and Compliance but will have a large degree of autonomy in day to day matters.

The Candidate

We are looking for a candidate who is qualified as a lawyer in the UK and has strong experience of working with US law (or holds a US legal qualification) and is used to working in a commercial environment. The candidate will be organised and comfortable working in a fast-paced organisation with constant change. The candidate needs to be used to working across teams in an organisation, supervising and developing others as well as rolling their sleeves up and getting involved. Experience in any of the following will be a distinct advantage:

•Working in the financial or e-money business to consumer sector.

•Data Protection.

Areas of Responsibility include but are not limited to:

•Keep abreast of legislative changes

•Advise on key laws in the UK and US e.g. Privacy laws, e-money regulations

•Be the point of contact for internal litigation and other legal questions including working directly with C suite executives

•Draft and review legal documents/ work on various transactional matters (internal contracts - employment agreements, privacy policies, NDAs confidentiality agreements, external contracts: contractor and vendor agreements, data processing agreements, license agreements, master service agreements etc.)

•Support fundraising activities with investors

•Help increase business knowledge of key legislation through awareness activities
