Head of Credit
Lead a team of business credit underwriters to undertake credit risk assessments and decisioning in accordance with policies and procedures.
Be accountable for credit decisions and identify signs of stress to minimise the company's exposure to bad and doubtful debt.
Proactively look for opportunities to enhance lending opportunities within acceptable risk parameters.
Proactively review and recommend improvements to credit policy and procedures.
Accept full responsibility for lending decisions made.
Ensure that the risks of lending proposals submitted are properly identified, assessed and mitigated appropriately.
Complete credit decisioning responsibilities within the requirements of Service Level Agreements.
Support the business aspirations for asset growth with a balanced approach to asset quality and risk reward.
Contribute to team training and proactively look to share key learnings and experiences among colleagues.
Clear understanding of lender regulatory requirements including consumer duty.
An up-to date knowledge of the latest CRA product suites. Ideally with close working relationships with CRA's
Customer outcome focused.
Skills and attributes:
Analytical thinker, with deep understanding of credit profiles, experienced in underwriting with the ability to run a team of UW, ability to build and maintain complex credit scorecards. Ability to run a risk-based pricing model.
Strategic thinker with good track record of improving business strategy to drive P&L improvements.
An ability to think critically, be pragmatic, have confidence to challenge, problem solve and find new ways of doing things, including influencing senior leadership.
A track record in building and managing stakeholder relationships.
Experience of both leading a team, and coaching and developing colleagues in complex credit matters.
Demonstrated ability to make sound and balanced decisions within designated timeframes.
Excellent IT Skills (MS Word, Excel and Outlook).
