MERJE has been instructed exclusively by our client, a market leader in their sector, to support with the recruitment of a Head of Compliance. This is a hugely important role where you will lead and oversee regulatory requirements across the group and its divisions ensuring sound, pragmatic commercially focused compliance and regulatory advice. The successful candidate will provide strategic guidance, oversee compliance programs, and collaborate with various departments to foster a culture of integrity and ethical conduct.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive compliance strategy aligned with the organisation's goals.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the compliance team.

  • Stay abreast of changes in relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

  • Ensure the company's compliance with all applicable regulations.

  • Conduct regular reviews to ensure policies remain up-to-date and effective.

  • Foster a culture of compliance awareness throughout the organisation.

  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate compliance risks.

  • Prepare and submit regular reports to executive leadership and regulatory authorities.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of compliance activities.

  • Work closely with legal, finance, and other departments to ensure cross-functional collaboration on compliance matters.

  • Provide compliance support for new initiatives or projects.

  • Promote a culture of ethics and integrity within the organization.

  • Oversee the compliance requirements for the company's businesses who are regulated by the FCA to ensure compliance with its requirements.

  • Act as lead contact for the relevant regulators including the FCA and the ICO including compiling submissions and managing notifications.

  • Act as a relevant SMF (16 and/or 17) for FCA regulated entities in the group.

  • Act as Data Protection Officer for the group and ensure compliance with ICO requirements.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership compliance role.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Track record of interacting with relevant regulators, preferably the FCA and the ICO.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills at all levels.

  • Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing compliance programs.
