MERJE are partnered with one of the UK's largest independent investment management and stockbroking firms in their search for a talented Financial Controller.

In this role you will play a vital, senior position in ensuring the Finance department is working effectively, efficiently and to the highest standards of financial integrity.

You would be the leader of the Finance and Reconciliations teams, providing coaching and support to allow the team to be successful in its roles. You will share your knowledge and promote and maintain a supportive culture of rigour and integrity.

Your key responsibilities would be:

  • Overseeing the production of monthly and annual accounts;

  • Pursuing and implementing improvements in processes and controls;

  • Enhancing financial analysis and internal reporting;

  • Ensuring reconciliation requirements across the teams are met, including balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations and external stock reconciliations;

  • Monitoring and managing the Firm's cash flow;

  • Liaising with auditors to ensure successful annual audits;

  • Leading on recruitment, onboarding, and performance management for your teams.

This is not a client-facing role, your main communications will be with your departmental colleagues and other stakeholders from across the firm.

We are looking for someone who knows how to get the best out of their teams and has an experienced eye for finance.

In return we offer an opportunity to work with two excellent teams of dedicated colleagues, opportunities to make a significant contribution to the operations of the firm, and a supportive Director who will work with you to ensure you have opportunities for development and progression.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Accounting Qualification.

  • Previous successful people management experience.

  • Proven leadership, delegation, and coaching skills.

  • Good awareness of HMRC and FCA rules.

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.

  • Ability to maintain and promote the highest standards of rigour and integrity.

What does the future look like?

Once you are settled into the role, you will be able to take on more responsibility within the team and have the opportunity to develop your skills and experience further through CPD and other development opportunities.

Our Client provides support for colleagues to achieve industry standard qualifications, if that is something you wish to do.

For someone who is keen to progress in this field, there will be developmental and coaching support provided for you to potentially progress into a more senior role in the future.
