MERJE are partnered with a leading Building Society in their search for a number of ALM Managers to join their team on a 12 month FTC basis.

If you have had exposure to Funds Transfer Pricing, Financial Reporting / Committee Reporting or Hedge Management then we would love to hear from you.

About the role

A fixed term opportunity has arisen to join the Asset & Liability Management team in the Balance Sheet Control directorate as a specialist ALM manager under the Hedge Management project within the Governance, Risk and Control programme.  The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the transformation of the Society's funds transfer pricing.

This role will be directly responsible for delivering key aspects of the hedge management project, working with colleagues across the ALM team, wider Finance function and trading.  The successful candidate will be expected to document, consult on and develop the funds transfer pricing methodology and mechanism for the Society to achieve optimum risk transfer, product pricing and margin reporting.  This requires a thorough knowledge of the products the Society provides to members and customers and of the components of cost of funds incorporated into financial services transfer pricing as well as the ability to build and deliver to an ambitious vision in ensuring funds transfer pricing meets the requirements of a growing firm.  This role has no line management responsibility but requires significant engagement with others.

The successful candidate will join an established team of permanent and project colleagues with a breadth of experience in the Asset and Liability Management field. This role would ideally suit someone with a financial services background with experience in financial risk management or margin reporting who is looking to deepen their expertise.

A strong understanding of balance sheet, corporate structure and data and reporting landscape are key to success in the role.  In addition, you will champion a positive risk management culture.

About You

You'll need in-depth knowledge of the components of the cost of funds incorporated into financial services transfer pricing, the products the Society offers and financial risk management. This will be coupled with:

  • A working knowledge of interest rate risk and liquidity risk management and with a broad understanding of margin reporting and finance and balance sheet management within an organisation.

  • An understanding of hedge management activities within a retail financial services setting.

  • Experience of documenting financial risk management methodologies and processes.

  • The ability to set an ambitious vision and engage proactively with key stakeholders.

  • Past experience of delivering change within tight deadlines and utilising technological solutions.

  • Excellent attention to detail and a pro-active attitude and continuous improvement mindset

  • Effective communication, engagement and influencing skills - demonstrating the ability to understand, define and articulate business requirements to specialists and non-specialists alike.

  • You'll be someone who is keen to help others learn and develop and, while not a manager, you'll be provide thought leadership and encourage best practice in others

While this is a specialist role we are open to discussions with candidates with transferable skills such as a high level of numeracy and logical reasoning and the ability to communicate complex ideas to a general audience.
