​An exciting opportunity to join a well recognised business as a Senior Credit Risk Oversight Manager. You will lead independent 2nd line oversight of the Retail Credit Risk exposures and related activities and present recommendations and feedback to Senior Management and/or Executives as appropriate.

Role Responsibilities:

• independent oversight, challenge and review of the Retail Credit limits, Board Risk Appetite and Early Warning Indicators (EWIs)

• ongoing assessment of credit portfolio performance, including portfolio dynamics and risk performance

• undertake detailed credit reviews of new retail lending products

• review, write and present papers for relevant committees including Retail Credit Risk Committee (RCRC) and Expected Credit Loss Group (ECLG)

• perform independent quality assurance (QA) testing of 1st lines compliance with the Retail Credit Policy and related procedures across the credit risk value chain, and where appropriate, provide feedback to the first line on the ongoing suitability of credit policy.

• review the lending and retail credit strategy, including via participation in the annual strategic financial planning cycle

• independent oversight of provisioning, IFRS9 staging and related post-model adjustments (PMAs)

• developing independent portfolio analytics and Management Information (MI) to understand and assess the retail credit risk profile

• undertake targeted thematic reviews as appropriate across all stages of the retail credit lifecycle

• work with the other members of the team to review the retail credit risk models and ensure portfolio behaviour is understood at senior levels

Role Requirements:

• Educated to degree level (or higher) most likely via a numerate discipline (e.g. Economics, Finance, Mathematics), or demonstrable equivalent skills through experience.

• You’ll have prior exposure to dealing with retail credit risk issues at a Bank/Building Society, Regulatory or Professional Services firm and have some knowledge of mortgage products.

• You will have prior experience of writing, reviewing or advising upon credit policy and limits.

• You will have had prior exposure to reviewing or developing Early Warning Indicators (EWIs) and Management Information (MI) in order to assess the portfolio performance for a mortgage portfolio.

• Familiarity with IRFS9 and Internal Ratings Based (IRB) models would be an advantage but is not a necessity. Strong analytical skills will be required in this role.

• An understanding of the regulatory regime and relevant related expectations is also required.

• You’ll need to be able to explain complex technical matters in a concise and easily understood format to non-specialists and be confident in presenting your ideas, recommendations, and findings to senior audiences.

• You’ll have a track record of being able to influence stakeholders and have good report writing and analytical skills. You will also be able to work under pressure to meet short timescales as required.

• You will be a people-focused leader, with experience of managing technical individuals and driving strong performance.
