Main purpose of the role

 

Senior Credit Risk Analyst - This is a great opportunity! You will be Working within the Credit Risk Portfolio Management Team, leading a wide range of portfolio management and analytical activities that will require engagement with a number of functions across the organisation.

The role holder will drive understanding of the performance of the mortgage portfolio, including performing analysis across the credit risk lifecycle, gaining understanding of emerging credit risks and undertaking ad-hoc analysis to understand the causes of changes in performance. They will highlight risks and opportunities with respect to a range of existing policies and processes, presenting management information, analysis and recommendations to management.

 

Key accountabilities

 

Develop a detailed understanding of the organisation's portfolio credit risks and analyse the key drivers to support setting of risk appetite, strategy delivery and lending plan optimisation.

Produce efficient, accurate and effective reporting. Proactively review portfolio performance, identifying trends and undertaking analytics to develop understanding of the cause(s).

Highlight emerging trends and provide recommendations to senior management to mitigate risks and optimise opportunities.

Evolve the credit risk reporting framework to provide on-going oversight and control of the credit risk profile.

Engage with the business in order to understand the impacts of business processes at the credit portfolio level and to explain complex applications and principles to people who may not be familiar with credit risk techniques.

Provide support for new product launches and Lending Policy changes and be responsible for Post Implementation Reviews of the associated, resultant credit risks.

Conduct benchmarking of the credit risk profile of the organisation versus peers and other competitors and draw conclusions as to rationale for difference and opportunity for improvement.

Work with Credit Risk Analysts to develop their risk and technical skills.

 

Skills and experience

 

A degree, ideally in a numerate discipline (e.g., Maths, Statistics).

Previous experience of financial services, ideally with experience of working within Credit Risk and the Mortgage Market. 

Strong analytical and programming capability (e.g. SAS).

Experience of working across teams on multiple projects, providing Credit Risk expertise support and ensuring appropriate awareness of Credit Risk to other areas of the business.
