Sales Manager

My client is seeking a Sales Manager to lead and expand their commercial activity for their Card Payments business. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of commercial delivery, preferably within the Card payments sector. This role is hybrid, involving an element of travel, home working and time in the office and the new Sales Manager will be eligible for an attractive and competitive monthly commission scheme, annual company bonus, travel/car allowance and all other usual company benefits such as pensions etc.


  • Develop and implement commercial strategies according to company goals and objectives aiming to accelerate growth.

  • Contribute to annual budgeting process and ensure that all agreed targets are achieved inline with the Sales plan.

  • Conduct market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities (expansion, business development).

  • Build and maintain profitable partnerships with key stakeholders both internally and externally.

  • Monitor performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare reports for senior management both monthly and quarterly.

  • Identify trendsetter ideas by researching industry events, publications, and announcements.

  • Monitor competitor products and acquisitions to stay abreast of trends and movements in the market.

  • Examine risks and potentials for all business opportunities.

  • Close new business negotiations by coordinating requirements; developing and collaborating on contracts; and integrating contract requirements with business operations.

  • Maintain a positive attitude that inspires co-workers and clients on all interactions.

  • Collaborate with and coordinate projects across diverse teams (marketing, IT, finance, customer service etc.) to successfully deliver shared goals.

  • Deliver high standards of Customer Experience for new and existing clients and partners by listening to feedback and acting to resolve issues whilst innovating to drive growth and retention.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • A strong understanding of merchant processing and a track record of sales in this environment is advantageous.

  • Proven working experience as a business development manager, Sales Manager or similar.

  • Experience of building and executing on self-generated and partner led pipeline with new clients, owning the end-to-end sales process.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) are essential for this role and a history of growing and maintaining a panel of Key partnerships would add value.

  • Experience presenting complex solutions to C-Suit level decision makers would be beneficial.

  • Talented negotiator who understands how to balance the needs of the business, its partners, and its customers.

  • Target driven and highly motivated with a real hunger for success and in turn a passion for high reward.

  • Ability to increase sales from new routes to market whilst maximising and maintain existing portfolios and Key accounts.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM software (e.g. Salesforce).
