Our clients are one of the leading major retail banks in the United Kingdom. They are looking to recruit a Risk Manager, on a permanent basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside the Head of Risk in General Insurance, contributing to the development and embedding of an end to end comprehensive risk management framework in the Protect (General Insurance) Value Stream, but primarily focused on the Insurance distribution.
Location: Edinburgh, Newcastle or Home Based with the requirement to travel to the office when required.
Be comfortable working independently or as part of the wider team, planning and organising your own work in line with the annual risk plan
Be a great communicator
Have a demonstrable track record in risk management, preferably in general insurance
Have a great understanding of risk assessment, data analysis
Be competent at review and report writing
Have a broad understanding of the legal and regulatory framework within which general insurers operate.
Key Skills & Experience:
Contribute to stakeholder engagement through identifying stakeholders, finding out their needs/issues/concern and reacting to these by arranging meetings and events and drafting supporting materials to promote understanding and commitment.
Explore issues or needs, establishing potential causes and barriers as well as related issues.
Deliver assurance and oversight assignments in nominated client areas. Develop individual assurance and oversight plans and detailed scope, deliver the fieldwork, report findings and opinions, agree on corrective actions with business owners, and refer serious or contentious issues to the lead/senior risk manager.
Ensure the organization is not exposed to undue risks by using risk management systems to achieve specific goals within a designated area of the business.
Recommend changes to policies, processes, standards and practices that would improve operational support
Explore and develop a detailed understanding of external developments or emerging issues and contribute to the evaluation of their potential impact on, or usefulness to, the organization.
Identify, within the team, instances of non-compliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these and escalating issues as appropriate.
Policy Development & Implementation - Help develop procedures for an area of the organization, and monitor their implementation
