Due to recent growth, our client – one of the UK’s leading independent wealth managers – is looking for a Management Accountant to join their Finance department.

The Finance department has responsibility for maintaining the accounting records and generating both internal and external reports for the regulated legal entities in the UK. The main emphasis of this role is on management reporting for the Wealth Planning entity, which specializes in providing independent financial planning advice to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate monthly reports on revenue and assets under advice.

  • Collaborate with front office and management to fulfill management reporting expectations.

  • Spearhead enhancements to the management reporting function, including the design of new reports and increased automation of production.

  • Contribute to the financial accounting function, involving tasks such as month-end reconciliation and bookkeeping.

  • Play a key role in the integration of the finance function following the acquisition of a financial planning business.

  • Engage in ad hoc project work as needed, including the post-acquisition integration of new business, implementation of new systems, and adjustments in regulatory reporting.

  • Offer finance support for Wealth Planning as directed by Finance leadership.

  • Take a proactive approach to expanding knowledge of the industry and market, undertaking and documenting relevant Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for skill and knowledge enhancement.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Possession of a degree and relevant accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA.

  • Familiarity with accounting for wealth management/financial planning products, gained either through direct experience in a similar organization or through audit exposure in the sector.

  • Preferred experience with X-Plan, IO, Sage or Avaloq.

  • Knowledge of Compliance regulations impacting the role.

  • Familiarity with FCA and IFRS reporting in the context of wealth management/financial planning companies is advantageous, though not mandatory, with demonstrable similar experience considered.

  • Demonstrates an analytical approach to work, coupled with the ability to organize and prioritize workload, ensuring consistent accuracy in processing and reporting.

  • Capable of working effectively within a small team, both as part of the finance department and when collaborating with other support areas and the front office.

  • Proficient in working under tight deadlines, even in a pressured environment.

  • Displays the ability and enthusiasm to quickly learn new tasks and responsibilities, actively suggesting changes and process improvements.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
