MERJE has been instructed exclusively by our client, a market leader in their sector, to support with the recruitment of a Head of Risk & Assurance. In this role you will be responsible for designing, embedding and rolling out the Enterprise-Wide Risk Management framework.

In addition, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the risk management and assurance function across the company, ensuring the establishment and maintenance of effective risk management and internal control frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management strategy and framework aligned with the firm’s organisational objectives.

  • Conduct regular risk assessments and collaborate with stakeholders to identify, assess, and mitigate risks.

  • Develop and execute an annual assurance plan, ensuring coverage of key risk areas.

  • Lead and coordinate assurance activities, liaising, where appropriate, with the external auditors.

  • Assess and enhance internal control frameworks to safeguard assets and ensure operational efficiency.

  • Communicate assurance findings, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership and relevant stakeholders.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance risk management and assurance processes.

  • Provide training and guidance on risk management.

  • Collaborate with other departments, including finance, legal, and compliance, to ensure a holistic approach to risk management and assurance.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Proven experience in risk management, internal audit, or a related field, with a strong understanding of audit methodologies.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field; advanced degree and relevant certifications (e.g., CIA, CISA) preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills across all levels.
