Interim Head of CDD

 

In this role you will have overall accountability and responsibility of the CDD function, to ensure the business and clients meet their AML obligations for both client onboarding and ongoing monitoring.

 

You will provide strategic leadership and management to the CDD functions in ensuring priorities are aligned to those of the firms.  Responsible in ensuring the CDD function continue to perform and contribute to the firm's strategic business objectives and any regulatory priorities set by Compliance. You will ensure that the CDD function have appropriate controls in place and are aligned to those set by Compliance to mitigate the business being used to further Financial Crime and in line with the firm's risk appetite.

 

Work closely with the DMLRO/ MLRO in ensuring AML risks are managed in accordance with Financial Crime Policies.  To work closely with the Group Head of Operations in ensuring that AML matters are addressed in a timely manner in ensuring elevated risks do not pose a threat to the firm. To ensure operationally, teams are adequately resourced to mitigate against AML shortcomings/ breaches.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for AML procedures/ processes to compliment Policies that derive from Financial Crime Compliance. To continuously enhance processes to provide efficiency and ensuring AML risks are appropriately managed.

  • Overall responsibility of any projects (including remediation) to ensure the success in a timely manner but of the highest quality.

  • Responsible for the discussion/ challenge/ remediation/ offboarding of clients (including High Risk).

  • Chairperson of the High-Risk Committee and escalation to ExCo where required.

  • To produce and contribute to the Compliance and Risk Committees in providing AML MI to provide assurance, oversight, discussion, challenge for AML related matters.

  • To contribute to business wide projects and initiatives that have an AML impact.

  • Keep abreast of any relevant regulatory changes and apply such changes to working practices.

  • To assist with external audit reviews, including those of our regulator(s).

  • Receive information from the MLRO/ DMLRO regarding regulatory changes and apply such changes to working practices.

  • To undertake quality assurance of Management activities.

  • Refer to the DMLRO/ MLRO any non-compliance with the CDD requirements and agree appropriate action.

  • Provide statistical data for management reporting where required.

  • Responsible in ensuring sufficient resource and training is in place to maintain high standards.

  • To support with the facilitation of AML training to the wider business where required.

  • Any other AML related duties.

  • Be proactive in developing your knowledge of the industry and the market. Undertake and record relevant Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to develop knowledge and skills.

 

Requirements:

  • Good knowledge of FCA rules relating to AML and JMLSG; required to have professional written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills and minimum 3 years' experience in similar role.

  • Understand how systems and processes support the CDD requirements of the Business.

  • Good degree of regulatory awareness is required for the role escalating areas of concern or issue in a timely manner.

  • Strong people management experience and ability to communicate at all levels

  • Broad financial crime experience with a demonstrable track record of leading a CDD/EDD function
