Financial Crime Systems, Threat and MI Manager 

This is an exciting role to join a successful and fast growing FS business. In the role you will be responsible for the Group’s Financial Crime systems supporting Financial Crime Risk Management Framework & broader FC controls through a combination of advanced data mining, advanced statistical analytics, threat intelligence and financial crime risk model development.

Role Specific Accountabilities

  • A key resource in the evolution of the businesses Financial Crime capability and the management of Financial Crime risk

  • Systems owners & SME – responsible for the financial crime systems developing a cohesive and inclusive solution that can be flexible to changing requirements

  • Own the design, delivery and implementation of a robust and fully optimised quality/effectiveness control testing and quality assurance to deliver the highest standards of oversight, compliance and control through FC systems technology.

  • Design and execute quarterly and annual reviews of the Systems Oversight Activity Plan to reflect changing priorities and emerging risks/issues and change controls to mitigate risks.

  • Accountable for ensuring that pro-active and effective frameworks and solutions across FC Systems, Threat Inelegance coordination and utilisation.

  • Owner of FC data and quality of data within FC systems

  • Foster relationships with FC SMEs and colleagues across the business

  • Execute delivery improvements of financial crime risk management and technologies approach

  • Accountable for the development and execution Fraud, AML and Threat Strategies in the delivery of services

  • Own the FC operational governance reporting, analytics and threat intelligence

  • Responsible for optimising, assuring and maintaining the financial crime prevention systems in place within the Group

  • Responsible for identifying and mitigating the financial crime risks posed to the Group through automated controls, process and other applicable means

  • The ability to communicate often complex system analytical solutions to the wider department, ensuring transfer of key findings and intelligence

  • Working across multiple risk types i.e. AML, Fraud, ABC etc. own the production of timely and accurate Financial Crime management information, analytics and threat assessments to inform and improve the risk approach

  • Lead the team to provide written reports to executive business owners highlighting risks and issues, gain agreement to remedial action where appropriate, and conduct follow up reviews to confirm all risk exposures have been appropriately addressed.

  • Own the test & Monitor of effectiveness of rules and processes based on analytical assessment and horizon risk i.e. customer screening and transaction monitoring systems and controls

  • Own the ongoing ‘tuning’ of systems controls in place, specifically but not solely relating to customer screening and transaction monitoring and make recommendations for change.

  • Identify gaps in financial crime controls and recommend /develop mitigating solutions.

  • Oversee testing and proving of financial crime controls already in place.

  • Maintain knowledge of financial crime systems and controls used by the Group, allowing for continuous improved performance.

  • Work closely with first and second lines of control and governance to ensure that systems and processes are in line with expectations, and addressing the risk using a risk-based approach.

  • Utilise best practice statistical, analytical and modelling techniques to perform complex analysis of the Groups Financial Crime Risks, to enable proactive prevention and detection, optimised tuning of financial crime technologies. 

  • Be viewed as an expert in the Financial Crime systems and to be able to process, manipulate and interpret that data to support the above accountabilities.

  • Have an excellent understanding of the financial crime risks and maintain knowledge of typologies and developments for Fraud, Sanctions, High Risk Customers and Money Laundering and Terrorist finding risks across all products

  • Communicate results of analysis to senior management to a high standard, both written and verbally, making recommendations for risk mitigation within risk appetite.

  • Responsible for ensuring all reporting to line management, Risk Committees, Board and other recipients delivers useful and robust insight into current performance against expectations, opportunities for improvement, and identification and mitigation of forward-looking risks

  • Promote a culture of compliance, risk awareness and ‘prevention over detection’ Work with both 1st and 2nd line of defence functions to help colleagues optimise their performance and develop better risk management expertise

  • Provide leadership, support and mentoring for colleagues in team

  • Seek insight from peers, professional groups, industry groups and consultants into improvements that can be made to the risk framework to further strengthen our risk management capabilities.

Requirements;

  • Strong Product management experience within a FS environment

  • Committed to producing high-level product overviews, analytics and MI across the FC arena

  • Sound knowledge of regulations, trends and threats in the FC arena

  • Working knowledge of FC systems Actimise, SAS SQL Business objects Power Console, Tableau etc.

  • Subject matter expertise in financial crime risk including experience of AML, KYC, Sanctions and Fraud retail banking products and the UK regulatory environment.

  • Understanding of both the risk and technical aspects of financial crime controls relating to customer screening and transaction monitoring.

  • Ability to understand technical systems, allowing for working with systems and other IT related challenges

  • Ability to apply themselves to problem solving and analysing situations, delivering practical and compliant financial crime controls/solutions.

  • Evidence of professional learning and development to build and maintain skills and expertise

  • Ability to convert divisional priorities and goals into operational plans

  • Ability to work within agreed parameters and make operational decisions

  • Experience of supporting the delivery of  organisational change

  • Ability to manage budgets and resources

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, compliance, corporate governance, quality assurance and risk management
