AML Manager

Our clients are looking for an AML Manager to lead, develop and oversee the operational performance of the AML team to support delivery of the business’ strategic priorities. Protecting customers and the business as well as fulfilling regulatory/statutory obligations in respect of anti-money laundering, high risk/sanctions and counter terrorist financing activities.

Responsibilities:

●Technical and practical SME in relation to financial crime

●Act as a key industry contact for Financial Crime engagement

●Support the definition of the financial crime strategy and approach to adequately and effectively manage the Financial Crime risk presented to the business and its customers

●Continually assess and refine the approach taken and control environment to manage the current and future Financial Crime risks presented to the business

●Define, develop, and lead operational delivery across the Financial Crime teams, to ensure a robust control environment, appropriate service level agreements and quality targets

●Lead operational delivery across the Financial Crime team, to service level agreements and quality targets ensuring that appropriate resources are effectively deployed to manage AML risks, deliver an exceptional customer/colleagues experience and protect the business

●Responsible for embedding robust Financial Crime training & competency scheme together with oversight of colleagues to drive quality within process

●Ensure regulatory and legislative changes are considered and appropriately embedded in operational processes and within the broader business to mitigate against risks of the business being used to facilitate financial crime

●Ensure appropriate resources are effectively deployed to manage financial crime risks, deliver an exceptional customer/colleagues experience and protect the business.

●Determine financial crime trends to target control improvements at a local and strategic level

●Responsible for ensuring the business’ response to financial crime is risk proportionate up to date and effectively managed: decisions are consistently applied, reflect the current economic situation, comply with FCA and other regulatory regimes and are aligned to the current risk appetite.

●Ensure effective oversight and continual development of the financial crime risk control environment ensuring alignment to the strategic objectives

●Ensure effective oversight and continual development of the financial crime teams to deliver high-performance, succession planning and an engaged workforce

●Responsible for the appropriate and timely disclosure to relevant third parties (e.g. NCA, HMT, OFSI), and in line with regulatory requirements.

●Collaborate with services across the business to ensure that customers with potentially vulnerable circumstances are proactively identified and supported to achieve fair outcomes in accordance with business policy and guidance.

Skills and Experience:

●Experience of developing and implementing AML operational activity to effectively protect both Customers and the business

●Robust understanding of financial crime regulations and legislation specifically AML but also covering Fraud

●Robust understanding of the regulatory systems and reporting requirements for financial institutions in respect of financial crime

●Experience of leading and developing an AML function or team to deliver sustainable high performance

●Evidence of professional learning and development to build and maintain skills and expertise – ICA Diploma in AML or equivalent

●Ability to consistently take independent risk proportionate decision based up on facts and data.

●Ability to convert strategic priorities and goals into operational plans

●Ability to work with autonomy and make operational decisions

●Understanding of financial services industry, markets, and competitors

●Leadership skills

●Ability to lead and motivate small to medium teams to deliver sustained high performance
