MERJE are currently assisting a growing firm based in Manchester City Centre with their search for a Tax Director. They are a forward thinking, established firm who have had a fantastic year in 2020 and are looking to grow more in 2021. To assist with this growth, they are looking for an experienced Tax Director to join them and help lead the tax department. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and delivery of the firms’ tax advisory assignments and assist in driving the growth of the tax advisory department.

Duties and accountabilities:

  • Management of client engagements from initial scope to final delivery
  • Drafting and finalising tax analysis reports and steps plans. Providing analysis and exposure to relevant taxes at
  • each stage of the transaction
  • Completing technical quality control for each engagement
  • Management of junior team members including hiring new team members and training and development
  • Working alongside clients and their professional advisors to assist in the completion of the transaction within the required timescales
  • Ability to attract and develop new clients’ relationships and identify tax risks/opportunities for our existing client base
  • Progress and develop your own skills and knowledge in line with your agreed goals and objectives

Skills, knowledge and experience:

  • ACCA/CTA Qualified
  • At least 5 years’ experience working in corporate taxes including time in a senior position
  • A strong understanding of all areas of corporate taxes including transaction and structuring engagements
  • Experience of property and construction related tax issues
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of tax and tax legislation across the board
  • High level of written and spoken communication skills particularly when articulating complex and technical tax issues to clients
  • Being proactive in creating and developing client relationships
  • Confident in dealing with clients at all levels either over the phone or face to face
  • Excellent time management skills and being able to deliver engagements under pressure to strict deadlines
