​ This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join our blue chip clients Claims team as a Senior Handler in the Technical Claims Team (Catastrophic Motor Claims)

This can be a hybrid or fully remote working role reporting into our North East based client

As one of the most senior members of our Claims team you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of high value personal injury cases (including cases in excess of £5 million) from first notification to settlement and will support colleagues by way of coaching, mentoring and development.

The Role:

•Manage a portfolio of high value cases (predominantly in excess of £1 million) from first notification to settlement

•Attendance at Trials, settlement meetings or conferences with Counsel where appropriate.

•Act as a technical referral point for more junior Technical Claims colleagues and possess strong mentoring and coaching skills. Have a drive to develop those around you and assist the Head of Large Loss to support a market leading department.

Requirements for the Senior Technical Claims Handler:

•A proven track record of handling personal injury claims of the utmost severity (in excess of £1 million)

•Strong indemnity and liability knowledge.

•Detailed working knowledge of current legislation and working practices.

•Fully conversant with the principles of the Serious Injury Guide.

•Strong knowledge of PPO’s.

•Proven knowledge and understanding of the general insurance industry, in particular, the technical requirements of claims handling.

•Ability to confidently provide technical advice and guidance in relation to complex technical claims, claims handling processes and procedures to the Operation.

•Possess a detailed understanding of vehicle and property damage claims; including liability and knowledge of key case law, industry protocols, The Road Traffic Act and litigation.

•Possess a detailed understanding of Home Policy liability namely Occupier’s liability and Personal Liability claims; including knowledge of key case law, industry protocols and relevant legislation.

•Good knowledge of medical disciplines required in investigating personal injury claims at all levels of severity.

• Confident ability to coach and develop an initial small team on technical topics.
