Overview

Financial Services business, located in Birmingham are looking to hire an experienced Senior Operational Risk Manager to form part of the second line Operational Risk team. The role holder will play a key role in the design, implementation and embedding of the firm’s operational risk framework and accompanying standards and systems.

Responsibilities

• Support in designing Operational Risk Framework and risk system configuration – in depth knowledge of implementing RCSAs, KRIs, Risk Event Management, Scenarios.

• Lead, drive, influence, monitor and support the implementation of the framework and reporting, ensuring that they are fit for purpose for the size, nature and complexity of the business and comply with regulatory and legislative requirements.

• Lead and deliver an effective second line oversight, review and challenge framework for execution across the business units and support functions ensuring compliance to the Operational Risk Framework.

• Lead and deliver an effective Operational Risk Training program covering all layers of the organisation.

• Provide strong subject matter expertise to advise and challenge working closely with the business.

• Lead ad-hoc in-depth reviews, internal and external reporting as required.

Knowledge Required

• Strong and extensive experience at a Senior Operational Risk Manager level, preferably within a retail banking/private wealth management or similar regulated environment.

• In depth technical knowledge of sophisticated operational risk; identification, assessment and remediation monitoring tools.

• Commercial, business focussed with strong judgement and integrity

• Excellent verbal and written communication, including report writing, facilitation skills and ability to present confidently and to work effectively with employees and management at all levels.

• Outstanding influencing and negotiation skills and a proactive relationship builder; able to work collaboratively and deliver commercial and operational messages and persuade stakeholders from a wide audience.
