​MERJE are partnered with a fast-growing, innovative finance company in their search for Senior Financial Accountant to join their team on a 12 month Fixed Term contract.

The role is ideally suited to a candidate looking to work and develop in a dynamic environment collaborating with contacts across Finance, Treasury, Commercial and Credit teams.

You will lead a team of accountants to ensure delivery of high quality outputs, and ensure they develop successfully within their roles, leading the month end close process for revenue, cost of funds, fee income and impairment (c.£450m per annum of risk-adjusted income).

You will deliver insightful analysis and reporting of performance to support decision making.

What will you be doing day-to-day?

•Own the delivery of a timely and accurate month end close process for the Group’s c£450m pa of risk-adjusted income covering revenue, cost of funds, fee income and impairment

•Ensure the Group’s accounting policies are applied across risk-adjusted income, ensuring compliance with IFRS

•Partner closely with the Commercial Finance, Treasury, Commercial and Credit teams to support and challenge information required to ensure the Group’s accounting is appropriate and provide insightful analysis of performance compared to prior periods and budget

•Own the associated balance sheet reconciliations ensuring high quality support is in place and deliver monthly balance sheet reporting and analysis

•Work closely with the business to ensure Finance are engaged on strategic priorities and change projects. Assess areas that impact accounting for risk-adjusted income, update accounting policies and ensure processes evolve as required to reflect delivery of strategic projects, for example integration of new retail partners into reporting

•Manage the relationship with the external auditors with regards to risk-adjusted income, ensuring a smooth audit process at each reporting cycle where auditor input is required

•Ensure all deliverables adhere to the Financial Control Framework and contribute to continuous process and control improvements for assigned areas of responsibility

Your Skills and Experience

ESSENTIAL

•ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified

•Proactive with the ability to analyse performance to deliver insight which is presented clearly and concisely

•Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS) and experience of implementing accounting policies to ensure compliance with standards

•High attention to detail, problem solving skills and a desire to understand the wider implications of decisions for the business
