​Our Client is on the search for an experienced Senior Underwriter / Credit Risk Analyst to take on the responsibility for first line merchant on-boarding, associated escalations, underwriting and account monitoring within the organisations regulated portfolio.

Assess and evaluate new merchant applications incorporating all aspects of the customer due diligence journey for all types of organisation

Apply deep industry knowledge of merchant sectors, consumer credit reports, KYB, financial statement analysis, chargeback and dispute processes to evaluate merchant applications

Critically assess merchant application risk scores and propose appropriate security terms

Complete periodic and ad hoc account reviews for existing merchants

Own and maintain the Merchant Risk Register

Act as an escalation point for risk events related to merchant activity

Investigate Suspicious Activity Reports, escalating findings to the MLRO as appropriate

Report trends in credit risk, fraud and/or monitoring alerts and recommend remedial action

Continually assess the effectiveness of the merchant due diligence and monitoring processes

Liaise with third party solution providers to improve customer due diligence and transaction monitoring capability

Co-ordinate and prepare periodic regulatory reporting

Evolve the credit risk policies in line with industry best practice and changes in the regulatory environment

Maintain comprehensive credit risk process and procedure documentation to support the smooth running of the department on a day-to-day basis

Credit risk SME to Product, Technology and Sales teams

About you :

3+ years of experience in credit risk role, ideally in a payments organisation, acquirer or equivalent Fintech business

Financial statement analysis

Deep understanding of end-to-end customer due diligence processes

Able to develop effective risk and underwriting policy, scorecards and risk matrices

Ability to calculate relevant exposure calculations i.e. non-delivery and incorporate into overall decision on risk terms

Strong analytical, decision-making, and financial evaluation skills

Knowledge and understanding of the UK regulatory landscape, the FCA Handbook and JMLSG guidance

Highly proficient with MS Office software, especially Excel

Ability to balance issue resolution with escalation to senior leadership

Able to manage a varied workload and demonstrate excellent attention to detail

First class face-to-face and written communication skills

Self-starter with demonstrable track record of initiative and attention to detail

Ability to work autonomously
