Business Development Manager

This company is looking for a Business Develooment Manager to join their team to be responsible for generating new deal business flow in the Commercial Lending space, mainly through Business development, to enhance the offering for the company's members and working collaboratively with key stakeholders to support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generating new business deal flow in the Commercial Lending Space, mainly through Business Development
  • Identifying opportunities for the company to enter new sectors and developing a business plan to support the growth in this area
  • Proactively managing the existing Commercial relationships to support the growth objectives of the Society.
  • Working amongst networks of 3rd party introducer/partner organisations.
  • Passing deal flow through to a Relationship Manager, who will be responsible for Credit packaging.
  • Conducting Annual Relationship Management reviews of the Society's largest exposures
  • Ensuring Mission and Credit are balanced.
  • Ensuring all activities comply with agreed Society policies and procedures - Lending Policy; Commercial Lending Procedures; Fraud; Money Laundering; Data Protection; Information Security; Health and Safety; Complaints and Audits
  • Working closely with marketing and communications to create focused messaging, collateral and marketing specific solutions in support of the business plans
  • Manage the preparation and sign off processes for new commercial lending decisions and amendments to commercial mortgage documentation and the Commercial Lending Procedures
  • Identifying and reporting risks and risk events within your role and responsibilities


  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
  • Extensive commercial lending experience in financial services
  • Excellent understanding of mortgages and the financial services market
  • Strong awareness of industry sector and regulation
  • Being self-driven
  • Experience in leading, coaching and managing employees.
  • Evidence of success in a results-driven environment
  • Strong presentational and influencing skills.
  • Track record of successfully delivering change
  • Ability to interpret complex data, Analyse and understand problems.
  • Strong leadership and management skills creating an environment of trust with an ability to lead, inspire, and motivate a team into consistent performance improvement.
  • Ability to interpret data and deliver and present findings and outcomes to others.
