To provide effective second line oversight of risks and events owned in the business, providing guidance, direction, challenge and control of company’s risks, including regulatory, operational, financial market and credit risk via the Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework. To also support the business to ensure all regulatory and legislative requirements are met and influence the achievement of businesses’ strategic and other business objectives. 
 
• Influence the identification of new / emerging risks, monitor Key Risk Indicators and monitor the profile of risks against appetite
• Support the Departments in agreeing action plans to reduce/mitigate or eliminate the risk and monitor the progress of these plans to fruition 
• Challenge (as appropriate) progress on action plans and clarify the specifics of a particular risk and escalate to the Risk Manager as appropriate 
• Undertake deep dives under the direction of the Risk Manager or Head of Risk and Compliance
• Provide support, education and training to staff to embed a strong risk culture across the company 
• Provide assurance on the effectiveness of controls through testing 
• Ensure all reporting requirements of Risk are created and delivered on time i.e. MI packs to RiskCo/ExCo/ Board 
• Update the Risk team’s internal procedures on a regular, at least annual, basis
• Input to the monthly meetings with Risk Champions evidences appropriate balance between support and challenge
• MI breaches and audit reports are produced in a timely manner and are audience specific, accurate, and insightful
• Departmental policies are reviewed in a timely manner and are aligned to the wider risk management framework
• Newly identified issues are thoroughly investigated and escalated in a timely manner  
• Robust oversight of action owners ensures existing issues are actioned within agreed timeframes
 
Knowledge
• Detailed working knowledge in the mortgage environment of;
• FCA regulation,
• Legislative and regulatory  
• External business awareness, including an understanding of the UK Financial Services Market
• Demonstrable experience in Financial Services or Risk based firm
• Minimum 5 years’ experience of MI reporting and analysis using Excel
• Working knowledge of the maintenance and development of an Enterprise Wide Risk Management framework and procedures
• CeMAP qualification would be useful
