Our client a well known and award-winning Bank who are looking to recruit a Regulatory Risk Officer with a Consumer Credit background. In this role you will work closely with the first line business and the regulatory risk technical team to ensure that regulatory risk is understood, monitored and managed effectively by the first line; to provide advice and guidance on day-to-day matters.

Day to day:

  • Provide day-to-day regulatory advice and guidance to the business to ensure on-going compliance.

  • Work with key stakeholders across business units and group functions to implement regulatory risk best practice, including Commercial Directors, Business Unit Heads and embedded Operational Risk/Assurance Managers.

  • Oversee and monitor adherence to the Operational Risk Management Framework, including requirements within each of the supporting policies and processes, ensuring their robust application across the business and providing reporting on exceptions.

  • Oversee the Regulatory Risk elements of the Risk Appetite Framework reporting metrics – ensuring that these are comprehensive and effective.

  • Ensure that Regulatory Risk oversight is appropriate around the Group’s policies and frameworks in order to ensure on-going regulatory compliance. 

  • Ensure key Regulatory Risk systems & controls are in place and effective, understood and documented in the RCSA. This should include (but not limited to) Marketing & Financial Promotions; Training & Competency; Remuneration; Product Design/Changes; and Assurance.

  • Provide regulatory oversight around specific projects as well as the overall (as requested) Change portfolio to ensure all risks relating to the projects are documented, assessed and agreed with relevant stakeholders.

  • Monitor material Risk Events ensuring appropriate remedial work is undertaken by first line business areas and tracked to conclusion.

  • Lead the Regulatory Risk input into the development, implementation and assessment of second line assurance activities as part of the Combined Assurance process.

Requirements:

  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of internal policies & procedures as well as the appropriate trade, market and regulatory developments. Ideal experience will be Consumer Credit / Motor Finance focused.

  • Support Regulatory Risk Partnering Manager in analysis and production of thematic and BAU management information ensuring these are timely, accurate and relevant to the risks of the business.

  • Provide effective communication between second and first line risk teams in order to raise exceptions and ensure these are acted upon.

  • Support and help to embed a robust risk culture through the business.
