A new vacancy has arisen for an MLRO to join a major UK Retail Bank on a permanent basis.

The role holder will act in a regulated capacity as Compliance Officer, MLCO and MLRO, and be responsible for discharging the legal and regulatory requirements of this role. Key to the role is fostering and maintaining good relationships with the GFSC, and other regulatory bodies such as the Joint Financial Crimes Unit and any other Authority.

Role Responsibilities:

Articulate the Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime and Fraud risks. Support line management to ensure that all business is conducted in accordance with the letter and the spirit of all applicable laws, rules, regulations, codes of practice, Global Standards Manual and Compliance Section of the Global Risk FIM and provide advisory services to ensure clear understanding of compliance risk exposure with respect to clients, transactions, and products.

Fosters a positive culture of compliance by working proactively with the business line, Business Risk and Control Management (BRCM), and other compliance professionals to ensure that best practices are followed in accordance with the applicable laws, rules, regulations, and internal policy.

Be responsible for second line governance of Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime and Fraud risks exposures, providing analysis, reporting and governance to CIIOM that is independent of the first line of defence, thereby maintaining an objective assessment of risk exposure.

Assist the CCO Guernsey and relevant senior management of CIIOM, and other colleagues on all material compliance related matters.

Influence a large area of regulated activity in a functional manner across several internal departments and governance committees to ensure the overall environment in which supported entities operate is fully compliant by taking a pro-active and innovative approach to risk management.

Supporting the process for Compliance policy implementation and working with Compliance Risk Stewards to oversee gap analysis and successful implementation.

Supporting the oversight and development of CIIOMs approach to Conduct Risk, working with Risk Stewards to increase awareness of Conduct Risk and embed the Group approach to Conduct Risk management.

Primarily to support Advisory, to maintain an effective control framework and to ensure compliance with all relevant external laws & regulations, internal codes and policies and good market practices. 

Key Skills & Experience:

      Experience in a regulated position such as a Compliance Officer, MLCO, MLRO and/or DMLRO

Robust level of Compliance and financial services knowledge and experience

Experience of managing relationships with regulators and auditors.

Ability and drive to raise standards and regulatory compliance culture across the businesses.

Experience of markets and company/corporate conducted within either a Guernsey or Offshore environment.

Strong interpersonal skills, including confidence and ability to always interact and negotiate with executive and senior management and being solution focused and commercially aware.

Proven analytical and reporting skills, together with the ability to support decisions with sound reasoning and to articulate verbally and in writing, potentially delivering unwelcome messages to mitigate regulatory risk.

An internationally recognised qualification in Compliance, e.g. ICA Certificate / Diploma, or willingness to work towards obtaining this desirable.
