Market Risk Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Market Risk Manager to join a unique insurance firm based in London.

The Financial Risk Manager will be joining the second line of defence team to support the Head of Financial Risk Management and perform second line oversight on non-traded market risk, primarily IRRBB as well as oversight on other risk disciplines including but not limited to liquidity, model and capital risk.

Responsibilities of the Market Risk Manager include:

  • Provide Market Risk oversight – primary focus IRRBB.

  • The methodologies and calculation which support regular IRRBB and FSA017 reporting.

  • The bank’s market risk related practices (e.g., calibrations of limits and triggers, policies and governance) for IRRBB and FX.

  • Use analytical skills to provide oversight and recommendations to the 1LOD, including risk assessments for new products and support the senior risk managers to provide that oversight.

  • On 1LOD activities including: IRRBB and FX mitigation techniques (e.g., hedging decisions) and IRRBB/ liquidity recharging through the FTP mechanism

Requirements of the Financial Risk Manager include:

  • Strong working experience in Market Risk in 1LOD or 2LOD functions, with strong knowledge in IRRBB methodologies, IRRBB regulations and their relevant application to the product set and balance sheet.

  • Highly numerate with excellent Excel skills, and the ability to investigate/manipulate/model data quickly, find trends and provide recommendation.

  • A good understanding of the Balance Sheet and P&L, including accounting implications.

  • Experience of liquidity, capital or model risk would be desirable.
