Job Description- The MI and Reporting team are the business owners of all regular Credit Risk MI used across the business in relation to the Corporate and Retail portfolios (current accounts, credit cards, personal loans, mortgages and specialist products). The primary objective is to streamline and optimise all regular MI across Credit Risk providing portfolio insight and monitoring internal, and, Industry trends

Key Responsibilities of the Lead MI Analyst:

  • Delivering all regular Credit Risk reports on-time and with 100% accuracy
  • Review regular reports to gain portfolio insight and share findings or highlighting any concerns to key stakeholders
  • Review and improve existing BAU processes minimising production time
  • Maintain up to date and relevant working instructions for all regular reports
  • Consolidating processes ran by the portfolio risk teams into the MI and Reporting team; optimise to reduce production times and document the new reports before scheduling as BAU
  • Evaluate and establish information sources, and carry out research activity, so that reports are based on sound and up-to-date data
  • Provide risk oversight for Regulatory and 3rd Party reports/requests, e.g. PRA, Fitch, Moody, ensuring they give a true and fair view of the portfolio
  • Share knowledge and enable cross-training of analysts in the team to eliminate key man dependencies
  • Provide guidance, support and coaching to junior staff to facilitate their development and achievement of their objectives
  • Build and maintain relationships and networks, internally and externally, seeking and sharing good practice and knowledge to support continuous improvement
  • Keep knowledge up to date in respect of credit risk management and develop skills to enhance personal capability in the role
  • Understand and assess the impact of wider Banking Group projects on the team/reports e.g. software or hardware upgrades
  • Have an awareness of regulatory changes and understand the impact of existing or new reporting
  • Scope and deliver adhoc requests for portfolio insight

Ideal knowledge and experience of the Lead MI Analyst:

  • Advanced SAS user with at least 4 years working experience (preferably a combination of base and Enterprise Guide)
  • Experience of using SAS to automate and schedule reports improving efficiency and running times
  • Experience interrogating large data (1m+ records) and varied data sources
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel user
  • Great attention to detail
  • A forward thinker and problem solver with a proven track record of developing creative solutions to complex issues and delivery with defined timescales
  • Proven mentoring, coaching or leadership skills
  • Proven influencing and negotiation skills
  • Understanding and awareness of Basel II/III and associated regulatory capital requirements/calculations
  • Understanding of Banking data structure
