​My client, a house builder and contractor, urgently requires an Interim Finance Director to lead the finance team during a period of new external investment, growth, and change. This is a great opportunity to make an impact with a high-quality business as it looks to go to the next level.

This role will work hand in glove with both the Managing Director day to day, whilst being the direct conduit into the external investors. The primary focus is on implementing new systems, reporting, controls into a business that is forecasting ambitious growth and needs to be able to handle this.

The duties will include, but not limited to:

• Immediate review and improvements of all financial systems

• Simplified short term cash management and rolling KPIs for across the business

• Absolute ownership of the monthly application>valuation>invoicing process

• Management of Invoice Discounting ledger and relationship from certificates

• Quarterly management accounts, including WIP (and review of current WIP processes)

• Advising the MD and External Investors on all matters relating to financial performance, growth strategies and plans

• Leading the budgeting, forecasting and planning process

• Being a mentor and motivating the finance team during a time of change, with 2x new employees having recently joined

• Controlling all financial and accountancy matters including month end reports, management accounts, cash flow management, compliance, presentation of management information and KPIs

• Ensuring the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met

• Overall responsibility for audit and tax compliance

• Preparation of data for board presentations on a monthly basis

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Finance Director/Head of Finance/Group Controller with a background in contracting or housebuilding. Experience in these fields is essential and other backgrounds will not be considered.

As a small headcount business, this role will be hands on with changing priorities, a limited hand over/history. Finally, we require a good relationship builder who is able to quickly establish rapport with the Managing Director, External Investors and the wider business.

This role will be on site 5 days per week and will last for up to 12 months
