​Our client is a highly successful and well known business with an international presence. A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the firm in the role of Head of Legal Compliance. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will play an integral role, working with the wider business to embed a best practice in order to establish a legally compliant culture. You will build and manage relationships with all of the relevant compliance regulators including FCA, CMA, Trading Standards, ASA, ICO, and other governmental regulators both in the UK and internationally.

Responsibilities:

Day to day you’ll work closely with business stakeholders across the Group, and with the Group’s General Counsel and Group Legal team to support the Group.

This will include:

• Helping to build a legal compliance team including legal experts in FCA, anti-trust, data protection, ABC and sanctions, consumer (ASA and TS) and international compliance.

• Developing appropriate legal compliance policies and procedures for the Group to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and company policies.

• Providing pragmatic and timely compliance advice to the Board and senior leadership team.

• Overseeing the design and delivery of an engaging and effective legal compliance programme to all relevant colleagues, including Board level colleagues.

• Managing the development, maintenance and delivery of an education and training programme to inform employees on compliance and regulatory issues and to always update staff on any relevant changes.

• Effectively managing all compliance queries through effective management of the legal compliance team.

• Building relationships with and engaging with regulatory agencies globally to defend or promote the firm’s interests.

• “Horizon scanning” for future compliance law trends/regulator developments which may impact the business.

Requirements:

• UK qualified solicitor – ideally 5-10 years PQE experience.

• Ideally working in compliance or as a specialist in one of the areas of legal compliance, preferably anti-trust law.

• Experience of FCA regulations and ideally knowledge of Consumer Finance (CONC)

• Proven leadership experience with drive for results.

• You must demonstrate the ability to understand how to manage legal compliance risks and requirements of compliance systems.
