We are partnered with an established and growing West Yorkshire based Financial Services business in their search for a Head of Fraud & Financial Crime.

As Head of Fraud & Financial Crime you will be responsible for all elements of Fraud Investigation and Financial Crime monitoring for the company. You will help define or improve on Financial Crime related policies, strategies, and ensure that the company has robust systems in place to minimise Financial Crime risk across the platform.

Role Responsibilities:

Educate all functions and ensure key internal stakeholders are familiar with the system and can identity key data and insights. Identify and implement functionality improvements that need to be made to key systems, and work in partnership with the technical and operations team to mobilise any changes/enhancements.

Define and lead the implementation of the Financial Crime strategic roadmap, including where appropriate identifying and planning work streams / projects, delivering business cases, delivering a communication plan, and monitoring progress against targets. Identification and implementation of cost-effective Financial Crime structure, strategies, and controls.

Develop the profile of the function both internally and externally and form strong and successful relationships with key stakeholder across the business and the wider industry.

Lead, manage, motivate, and guide a growing team to deliver the Financial Crime strategy by ensuring a holistic view of how each member feeds into the overall strategy.

Develop close working relationships with the wider Financial Crime community including industry peer Financial Crime teams, EMA, Visa AML directorate, professional working groups, CIFAS, Featurespace etc.

Develop and regularly produce relevant reports & MI to influence/support key business decisions. Identify key areas of concern and share action plans to implement appropriate change as required.

Work to establish a culture of Financial Crime Compliance and awareness, ensuring the response to any type of incident is immediate, effective, and appropriate across the business.

Oversight of Financial Crime intelligence gathering and addressing of any threats to the Licenses to operate.

Key Skills & Experience:

      Ten years + experience in Financial Crime management ideally in the banking and payments space, five of which should have been in a managerial or leadership position at MLRO/DMLRO level.

Detailed understanding of Financial Crime typologies in the industry and current threats with reference to AML, TF, APP fraud, Sanctions evasion and wider risks.

Demonstrable understanding of global Financial Crime regulations.

Experience of discharging Nominated Officer responsibilities in the UK (NCA) and understanding of local FIU requirements in Lithuania (FNTT).

Experience of managing regulatory engagement relating to Financial Crime, particularly in the UK but also in other geographies.

Pragmatic and structured approach to leading operational teams in different geographies.

Evidence of strategic thinking in a payments or banking environment.

Planning and executing key Financial Crime projects, including remediation.

Self-starting and independent with a considered approach to defining best practice.

Experience and gravitas operating across all levels of an organisation.

Commercially aware.
