MERJE have partnered with a leading global FinTech platform, in the search for a Head of Compliance.

Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, the Head of Compliance will support all areas of compliance, building on the strong foundation that has allowed the business to gain and maintain multiple FCA authorisations in consumer credit and payment services.

This position is on a Fixed Term Contractual basis and we are open to considering all working scenarios (part-time, full-time, etc). 

Responsibilities

Develop and improve the compliance strategy and infrastructure, including:

  • Develop and enhance our compliance strategy and roadmap

  • Enhance existing policies and draft new policies

  • Lead the dissemination and training of policies to staff

  • Monitor regulatory climate and specific FCA guidance for impact on the business and ensure appropriate changes are made 

Own the development and delivery of the compliance monitoring plan:

  • Oversee and monitor key regulatory risks and ensure appropriate escalation

  • Identify and escalate risk exposures within the business on a timely basis and ensure action plans are in place to address the risks

  • Oversee and monitor risks arising from new products and ensure these risks are managed in line with risk appetite and policy

Deliver clear, timely, independent and pragmatic expert regulatory advice and guidance to the team:

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders

  • Support the development of business processes, procedures and controls to ensure they are properly mapped to FCA and other applicable rules and regulations

  • Provide sound and pragmatic advice to the business on project or regulatory change activity

  • Engage with product design and approval processes, providing review and challenge to new and existing product development

  • Manage and own financial promotions processes (new and BAU) and work closely with Marketing teams to develop and maintain compliant collateral

  • Assist with the creation, sign off and provision of regulatory training

 

Lead the Compliance team:

  • Oversee the work of the compliance team and take responsibility for their ongoing development

  • Build the team in line with the growing requirements of the business

About you

  • You are an experienced consumer credit compliance professional with ~7+ years experience operating at/ towards SMF16 level, with anti-money laundering experience at/ towards SMF17 level.

  • You have familiarity with regulations associated with the Payment Services Directive, savings and protection products.

  • You are self-motivated and have a willingness to take responsibility and work independently, as a key member of the broader team, working within a fast-paced startup environment.

  • You have a desire to work in a young, dynamic FinTech company, in a broad compliance role
