The Client - Our client is an independent not for profit private company established to increase public sector investment in energy efficiency technologies. The business is funded by the government and works with public sector bodies throughout the UK helping them to make progress towards achieving their carbon reduction targets.

As the Financial Controller, the main responsibility is to oversee the operational running of the finance department including the day to day transactional activities and to provide technical and business support to staff, the Director of Finance & other members of the Senior Management Team. Role involves managing a team of 3 finance staff and 3 business analysts,


  • Overseeing day to day operational activities of the finance team including loan, supplier and expense payments.
  • Overseeing work undertaken by the Business Analysts team.
  • Review of monthly management accounts, cashflow and treasury.
  • Review and ownership of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Review of annual financial statements and management of the external audit process.
  • Overseeing preparation and submission of the Company’s corporation tax return by company’s external tax consultants.
  • Preparation of detailed administration cost budget and monthly forecasts.
  • Preparation of all funding cash claims to Government funders.
  • Management of third party relations with bankers and key suppliers.
  • Preparation of ad-hoc reports including reports for the Company’s funders.
  • Lead on the development of new systems and controls as the business grows engaging/working with external consultants as required.
  • Active member of the Senior Management Team.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant with strong technical background
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Understanding of company law and regulation
