A newly created role to work for a market leader in their field, the Group function is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to lead the Group’s compliance strategy to work with the Group Legal Director and Group Finance Director, to set the direction of the Group’s compliance activities, supporting and developing the divisional compliance teams in the Group’s consumer facing divisions, as well playing an important role in contributing to the group’s reporting and risk management activities. The role will report to the Group Legal Director.
The Role:
Be the compliance subject matter expert for the Group and provide challenge to its compliance related decisions and practices and facilitate best practice. Liaise with Group divisional companies Compliance functions as required
Ensure the effective identification, assessment and embedding of compliance, both at operational and policy levels, including ensuring practical change is effectively communicated and effected in relevant areas of the business in a timely manner
Ensure that relevant internal controls, including the effective management of risk, clear segregation of duties and full reconciliation procedures, have been established and are working effectively
Support and, where required, lead key business projects, providing regulatory advice and guidance
Consult, inform and advise at all levels within the Group’s businesses to ensure compliance of new products / services and channels / methods of delivery and ensuring an aligned approach throughout the Group’s businesses
Identify the laws and regulations that apply to the Group’s businesses and the ways in which compliance can be achieved in conjunction with commercial aspirations
Develop and maintain policies and processes to ensure compliance across the Group
Skills & Experience required:
Relevant academic background with substantial relevant experience in managing and leading on compliance matters
In depth industry knowledge of FCA Handbooks and regulations and issues. Detailed knowledge of CONC, SYSC, SUP, APER, SM&CR, FIT, COND rulebooks
Experience of working in a retail / customer focused business operating model
Strong consumer retail FS (FCA) experience, ideally from within the lending sector
Ability to effectively communicate new compliance policy and procedures, and embed these into the Group to create a positive compliance culture
Strong skills to influence decision making and persuade others to accept compliant solutions
Excellent line management skills, able to motivate a team and continually strive to improve the outcomes for the team
Experience of providing principal support to large-scale projects and financial re-engineering
Excellent communication skills, able to deal effectively with all colleagues up to Senior Management level (including Board of Management and Supervisory Board level)
Ability to make timely and effective decisions and to produce results even when in a difficult/adverse situation and the ability to prioritise competing demands
