Our client is looking to recruit a Director of Fraud & Financial Crime in a permanent role. As the Director you will hold accountability for designing and the on-going management of the Fraud and AML frameworks, alongside the ownership of Strategy and accountability for building all procedures and processes for both functions.  In the start-up phase role holder will also be required to build out key operational solutions (e.g. PEPS and Sanctions screen tools and AML transaction monitoring tools).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Build a framework for financial crime, Anti Money Laundering (AML), Counter Terrorist Financing (CTF) and sanctions Compliance & controls
  • Work hands on & oversee the rollout of the new framework throughout the new Card operations
  • Provide advice on AML, CTF & Sanctions obligations and embed the processes into the new operation
  • Manage AML compliance with analytics and scoring tools built in house
  • Recognise key risk indicators and proactively resolve recurring issues and streamline processes
  • Coordinate the onboarding and inflight process, including the collection of client information required to complete the due diligence profile (at varying risk levels)
  • Handle decision making associated with PEP, Sanction & Enforcement alerts at onboarding and in-life
  • Build the card quality control frameworks to ensure due diligence recommendations are of a high-standard and aligned to Regulatory and internal policy standards
  • Maintain knowledge of all applicable Financial Crime legislation, regulatory changes and industry best practice
  • Work closely with 2nd line on due diligence, PEP, sanction and enforcement matters including liaison with the MLRO
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the business to meet role objectives and deliver key activities
  • Provide management analysis and commentary for AML & Fraud performance, trends, issues, and actions
  • Build a framework for Fraud Management Compliance & control
  • Manage all non-modelling requirements for fraud mgmt
  • Construct policy/strategy and executional needs for the Fraud Mgmt Program and assist with its development, sizing, and execution
  • End to end management of 1st party, 3rd party and application and payment Fraud build out of all procedures and processes for the function
  • Submit policy and process analytics to the Director of Cards for review and approval (e.g. strategy modifications and impact of operational volumes, decline thresholds using risk/reward computation)
  • Support Fraud governance and Fraud reporting requirements (policy compliance, performance vis-à-vis guardrails and benchmarks, ensure accuracy and promptness of reporting processes)
  • Provide strong technical and financial crime regulatory guidance and knowledge on how to mitigate and control for risk to internal and external stakeholders and take accountability for delivery for the Card business

Qualifications/Key Skills:

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Strong knowledge across all areas of the UK financial crime regulatory regime including AML, CTF, Sanctions, PEPs, ABC and tax evasion
  • Strong knowledge of the UK Fraud market with a great technical depth of 1st Party, 3rd Party and Application Fraud
  • Track record in building out technical solutions to support a financial crime framework
  • Proven track record of seeking out opportunities for delivering change for continuous improvement in the Fraud and AML sector
  • Experience of developing rules for Fraud and AML with a good depth of experience of Falcon (above 6.4)
  • At least 5 years of Credit Card expertise
