MERJE are currently representing a global macro US Hedge Fund Manager who are looking to bring in a dedicated Compliance Manager to provide regulatory oversight for their UK operations. The firm has a highly dynamic business and would therefore present a great opportunity for a motivated and ‘hands-on’ individual to put their own compliance blueprint down from the outset as well as participate in the firm’s Global Compliance programme. The role will be ideally suited for an established Compliance professional from the hedge fund, investment banking or asset management space, who is keen to enjoy more autonomy and be instrumental in managing a UK Compliance programme.
 
Role
 
Reporting into the General Counsel who his based in the US, your main responsibilities will include:
 
Interfacing with the firm’s CCO and all London staff on Compliance related issues
Overseeing the office’s compliance with all FCA and EU mandated requirements
Acting as the main contact for all FCA and other EU related filings and liaising with applicable service providers
Performing Compliance training sessions for existing and new staff
Undertaking Compliance reviews across the business
Review of staff Personal Dealing
Dealing with conflicts, including Chines Walls crossings and Restricted Trading lists
Keeping on top of relevant changes in UK and EU laws applicable to the firm
Not looking for someone to take on CF10/CF11 responsibility
 
 
Key Requirements: 
 
Relevant Compliance experience, preferably gained in a Hedge Fund environment
Strong understanding of the FCA requirements that affect the Hedge Fund industry
Experience of trading surveillance – preferred but not essential
Excellent attention to detail/accuracy 
Able to recommend and implement improvements to processes, procedures and frameworks
Strong time management and work prioritization skills
Ability to work independently and use good judgment in decision-making
Degree qualified (preferred)
Legal background – also of interest but not essential
