Job Description:                               Our client is looking for a strong compliance professional with expertise from an Advisory perspective, working closely with other 2nd line functions to develop / maintain a collaborative approach to managing the risk of the business in regards to risk and regulation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide comprehensive and timely regulatory advice to senior management
  • Work proactively with the business to assess and respond to any regulatory changes – keeping in mind the commercial drivers and goals that are important to achieve
  • Identify and areas for improvement around the framework for the Compliance Advice and Governance functions – ensuring there is a strong working relationship across the business with Compliance and when possible, it is aligned to best practice
  • Interpret the changes coming from the regulatory landscape on their impact to the business and advise on how the effect of these changes should be considered in relation to strategic and pro-active approaches and solutions
  • Keeping the customer at the centre of consideration in regards to identifying and escalating any regulatory risks
  • Manage MI including Conduct Risk data to look for any trends which need addressing
  • Deputise for the Director as and when required


The Person

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a senior compliance role
  • General Insurance background – with a particularly strong technical understanding of the regulations in this sector (FCA background)
  • Can bring strong commercial awareness and business acumen to demonstrate an understanding of the political / economic factors which may need to be considered
  • Multi tasker who can make decisions without all facts available
  • Strong verbal and written presentation / communication skills – need to be highly articulate to help non-technical stakeholders understand the importance of regulation
  • Proven experience of managing senior stakeholders
  • Can demonstrate examples of supporting and driving change
