Our client, a top 10 award winning professional Services firm, is looking to recruit an Audit Manager to join their Manchester Team and help grow their audit presence in Manchester.

The successful candidate will oversee the management of a substantial portfolio of clients; planning assignments, briefing staff on the clients’ business, ensuring all work carried out is in compliance with government legislation and that client and statutory deadlines are routinely met and exceeded. Business development experience would be an advantage as you would be expected to identify opportunities, research and prepare proposals, as well as take part in formal presentations to prospective clients.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the assignment in accordance with the firm’s standard procedures and confirm arrangements with the client, including likely costs and billing arrangements
  • Ensuring quality at all times. Assisting with internal and external quality assurance, ensuring any actions are completed in line with the firms and professional standards
  • Briefing the audit team on the client’s business and the pre-assignment instructions, to supervise and control the completion of work, and to undertake ‘on the job’ training and appraisals where necessary
  • Ensuring that the job is completed within budget, and to discuss all materials points arising with the partner and client
  • Liaising with all other departments, and making sure all potential client needs are identified and serviced accordingly
  • Developing a detailed knowledge of the firm’s specialist services and to undertaking special work in response to client needs where appropriate
  • Performing the firm’s review and completion procedures, attending the final meeting with the client, and to ensure that the client subsequently receives the final accounts and commercial management letter on a timely basis
  • Ensuring the profitable recoverability of work in progress, and to bill clients on a timely basis
  • Research and prepare proposals for new work, and to take part in formal presentations to prospective clients
  • Attend staff meetings and training as required
  • Carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, the title of the role and its grading, as requested by the line manager or Head of Department

To be considered for this role, candidates must:

  • Be ACA or ACCA qualified. First or second time passes preferred
  • Have previous experience operating at manager level in a similar role
  • Have proven experience in client handling
  • Have experience in producing high quality audits
  • Experience from a practice background
  • Assurance experience of Owner Managed Business clients would be advantageous
  • Experience of analytical review approach desirable
  • Business development experience and interest would be a distinct advantage
